Privacy Policy
Account information you give us — your handle, display name, email address, and authentication details (we support magic-link and OAuth sign-in, and store a securely hashed password only if you set one).
Activity needed to run the product — the channels you join or own, presence and role, messages, reactions, raised hands, clips you upload, and moderation actions.
Technical and diagnostic data — device and browser details, IP address, and product analytics including session replay and error reports, used to understand and fix problems.
With your consent, we use PostHog to capture product analytics, error reports, and session replay — a recording of your on-screen interactions (clicks, navigation, page content) that helps us reproduce and fix bugs. Password fields are masked and never recorded. Live video and audio in a room are NOT frame-captured by session replay.
Analytics only start after you accept the cookie/analytics notice. You can decline, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing the choice in your browser. Declining does not limit your use of Cheers.
A room is only recorded when a channel operator explicitly turns recording on, and everyone in the room is shown a clear indicator when recording or streaming is active. Live captions, when enabled, transcribe speech to text within the session.
Recordings that operators save are stored so they can be shared back to the channel. Do not share content in a recorded room that you would not want captured.
To operate channels and presence, authenticate you, keep rooms safe (moderation and abuse response), diagnose and fix problems, and communicate about your account. We do not sell your data and we do not serve ads in Cheers.
You can export a copy of your data or request account deletion from Security & login in your profile. You can report users, clips, or channels, and block or mute where those tools are available.
You can decline analytics/session replay at any time. For privacy questions or data requests, reach us through the Support page.
We keep data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it. We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, though no method is perfectly secure.
